Cleaning out the crap & recommitting to clean eating!

February was a bit rocky on the good-nutrition path - we strayed rather far afield.  Today marked our return to healthier ways.

We wanted to get the crap out of the house but didn't want it to go to waste so I bagged it up and gave it to a homeless man that we pass daily.  Here is that assortment of leftovers: chinese food, risotto, mashed potatoes, pizza, and a couple of kinds of cookies.  It is out of the house!

Junk, begone!

For now, the cheese and the chocolate had to go, too.  Vacuum sealed & safely stored in the freezer, they won't "accidentally" wind up on my plate:

Cheese & chocolate - you're on hold...

So!  With that stuff out of the way - my lunch was some roasted chicken with a bit of homemade tartar sauce on top & a couple of ounces of farmers market sauerkraut.  (no photo).  Dinner was ground beef with sauteed onion & roasted red pepper.  Bit of cilantro & hot sauce on top & it was delicious.  One of my favorite meals.  If you're doing dairy, a dollop of sour cream really makes it sing (but it's amazing straight up, too).

Most delicious ground beef, onion, & roasted red pepper dinner.

Yum.  Looking forward to some of those leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Cobbled Together Leftovers for Dinner

Hey, it's not always a big cooking night - tonight we just reheated some tasty things from past meals & slapped them together. In one half of the bowl there is roasted garlic & steak topped with guacamole & cherry tomatoes; the other half has meatballs & roasted asparagus.

Afterwards I had some sliced strawberries & blueberries with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar but I forgot to snap a photo.  Guess I'll just have to have some more tomorrow so I can get a shot.  Yum.

Hiya!

I'm starting up this blog as a way to share paleo / primal meal ideas & recipes with my friends & family.

One of the things I hear most often when people are considering a shift toward paleo / primal eating is, "but what do you *eat*?"  If you're used to relying on cereal, bagels, bread, pasta, etc as the bulk of your meals, this is a big change.  I hope that this blog will provide some ideas & inspiration to folks who are trying to figure out what to put on the table.  As an added bonus, it will keep me on track with my own nutritional goals.  Heck, I should probably do a few workout-related posts, too - will help with the whole accountability thing.

But first, some lovely tulips that my mom got me for my birthday:
